About Web Designer Brisbane

Meet the person behind your website.

I'm Mark Zerafa — a Brisbane web designer with a design career that began in 1995 and a hands-on approach to helping small businesses look professional online.

I believe you should be able to speak directly to the person designing and building your website. No layers of account managers. No disappearing into a big agency. Just practical advice, good design and someone who takes responsibility for the finished result.

The story

From graphic design to Brisbane web design.

My design journey started in 1995. That was before websites became something every business needed, before social media, before smartphones and long before businesses expected a customer to find them with a Google search.

I have run my own design business in Brisbane since 1998. Over the years I've watched the way businesses communicate change dramatically — but one thing has stayed the same: good design makes it easier for people to understand, trust and remember a business.

I moved into website design in 2016, bringing that long design background with me. That combination is important. A website is not just a technical exercise. It is a visual representation of your business, and it needs to communicate what makes you different.

I work mainly with small and service-based businesses.

That's deliberate. Small businesses often don't have a marketing department, an IT team and a content department sitting behind them. They need someone who can understand the business, make sensible recommendations and take care of the details.

That's where I fit. I can help with the design and structure, the WordPress build, hosting, domains, email setup, maintenance and the technical side of getting everything working properly.

Most importantly, I want you to understand what is happening. I don't believe in making websites unnecessarily complicated just to make myself look clever.

What matters to me

Good websites start with good thinking.

I don't want to build websites that merely fill a screen. The design needs to have a purpose and the finished website needs to make your business look credible.

01 / VALUES
01

Professional presentation

Your website should reflect the quality of the business behind it. It should feel current, considered and trustworthy.

02

Clarity over complexity

Visitors should understand what you do, who you help and what to do next without having to work it out.

03

Direct relationships

You should be able to talk to the person making the decisions about your website. That makes communication quicker and more personal.

04

Long-term usefulness

A website shouldn't become a forgotten asset the moment it launches. Hosting, maintenance and improvements can continue after launch.

How I work

A straightforward process without the agency runaround.

You don't need to arrive with a perfect brief. Part of my job is helping you work out what your website actually needs.

02 / APPROACH
01

Listen first

I learn about your business, your customers, your services and what isn't working with your current website.

02

Recommend what makes sense

I'll explain the options and recommend a practical direction rather than automatically selling you the biggest package.

03

Design around the customer

Content, hierarchy, imagery, calls to action and mobile experience are considered together.

04

Build it properly

The design becomes a responsive working website, with technical foundations for speed, usability and search.

05

Stay available

Once your website is live, hosting and maintenance support can continue so you're not left on your own.

Selected work

Different businesses. Different design decisions.

From trades and professional services to marine, retail and specialist products, the website should be shaped around the business rather than forced into the same template.

03 / FAQ
Are you a freelance web designer or an agency?

I'm a freelance web designer and work directly with clients. That means you deal with me rather than being passed between sales, account management and production teams.

How long have you been designing?

My design career began in 1995 and I have operated my own design business in Brisbane since 1998. I moved into web design as a major focus in 2016.

What types of businesses do you work with?

I mainly work with small and service-based businesses, but I have experience across a range of industries. The common factor is that the business needs a professional website that communicates clearly and generates enquiries.

Do you only design websites?

No. Website design is the core service, but I can also help with WordPress, hosting, domains, email setup, maintenance, website troubleshooting and SEO foundations.

Do you work with clients outside Brisbane?

Yes. I'm Brisbane-based and work with local businesses as well as clients elsewhere in Australia. Most of the process can be handled online.

Let's talk

Need a web designer who will actually take ownership of the website?

Tell me where your website is now, what you want it to do better and what you're trying to achieve. We'll work out the right next step.
